GPA Calculator

  • Each grade at Carroll is assigned a certain number of quality points:

    A = 4.0 C = 2.0
    B+ = 3.5 D+ = 1.5
    B = 3.0 D = 1.0
    C+ = 2.5 F = 0.0

    Calculate your GPA by dividing the total number of quality points earned by the number of credits attempted. Note that transitional courses (such as ENG and READ Mods, and transitional math classes) do not have credits attached; therefore, they do not affect your GPA.

    Example: Sample Schedule and GPA calculation for a semester

    Course Attempted
    Credits
    Grade Quality Points
    ECON 101 3 B 9 (3 x 3=9)
    MAT 099 0 A 0 (0 x 4=0)
    BIOL 101 4 C+ 10 (4 x 2.5=10)
    HLTH 101 3 F 0 (3 x 0=0)
    Total 10   19

    You can increase your GPA by repeating a course or improving your study skills. If you repeat a course, count only the attempt with the highest grade. Repeating a course and obtaining a higher grade is the most efficient way of raising your GPA. If you're interested in improving your study skills through tutoring or workshops, contact the Academic Center.
