Carroll Community College Hosts Musical Performance
On Sunday, March 11, 2007 the Westminster Symphony Orchestra will join the Frederick Regional Youth Orchestra to perform a concert at Carroll Community College.
The program will include the film scores from "The Empire Strikes Back", "Lord of the Rings" and "Pirates of the Caribbean". The orchestras will also be performing Procession of the Nobles from Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov's opera, "Mlada" and Hoe-Down from Aaron Copland's ballet "Rodeo".
"This concert will be an interesting opportunity to combine the youthful energy of a youth orchestra with the more seasoned musicianship of a community ensemble," said Elijah Wirth, music director for both ensembles. "What better music to do this with than music from the movies?" added Wirth.
The concert will be held at 4:30 in the Theater in the Scott Center. Tickets are available at the door, $8 for adults and $4 for seniors and students. Carroll Community College students and McDaniel College students attend free with their IDs.
