August, December, and May
Carroll Community College may graduate its largest class in history this year, with over 375 students expected to compose the graduating class for the 2005-2006 academic year. The commencement ceremony takes place on Wednesday, May 24, 2006 at 3:00 p.m. The ceremony, which is attended by many in the graduating class, will be held at McDaniel College in Westminster.
Fifty three students will graduate with honors, completing their studies with a grade point average of 3.5 or higher. A total of 335 Associate degrees are expected to be awarded, plus 68 certificates. The most popular programs represented include arts and sciences, general studies, business, accounting, and law enforcement.
According to a survey completed by many of these graduates at the time of application for graduation, 44 percent plan to transfer to a four-year college or university immediately, as full-time students. An additional 8 percent plan to transfer immediately as part-time students. Another 28 percent plan to transfer sometime in the future. Students identified Towson University as the most popular transfer destination.
A third of the students surveyed said they expected to be employed upon completion of their degree at Carroll. Nearly three-fourths will be employed in Carroll County.
Carroll Community College is located at 1601 Washington Rd. in Westminster, Md.
