Eleven Students Complete Pharmacy
Technician Training at Carroll Community College
All 11 students enrolled in the 99-hour Pharmacy Technician Training course at Carroll Community College successfully completed the course July 29, 2008. Ten of the students passed their national certification exam by the end of their training.
National certification qualifies the technicians to register with the State of Maryland as certified pharmacy technicians and practice in the state. All pharmacy technicians in Maryland must be registered with the state in order to practice.
Pharmacy technicians are in high demand. According to the U.S. Department of Labor Bureau of Labor Statistics the need for pharmacy techs is expected to grow much faster than average through 2014. Pharmacy technicians work in hospitals, nursing homes, and assisted-living facilities as well as retail or mail-order pharmacies.
The next Pharmacy Technician course begins Tuesday, Oct. 7 at Carroll Community College. To register, call the Continuing Education Office at 410-386-8100 or visit the college web site at www.carrollcc.edu.
