Carroll Community College Website Receives National Honor among Best Education Websites
Carroll Community College has been named one of the top six websites in the nation by the Center for Digital Education, which has announced its 2005 Best of the Web contest winners. The college's website, www.carrollcc.edu, was selected from 100 applicants in higher education, including community and four-year colleges. Winners were also selected in the Kindergarten through 12th grade category.
"I am delighted that Carroll's website has received this national honor," said Dr. Faye Pappalardo, president of Carroll Community College. "I wish to extend my sincerest thanks and gratitude to our staff and administration who work so diligently to maintain a state-of-the art web presence. I am proud of the work that they do."
Contest criteria included website innovation, web-based delivery of public services, efficiency, economy, and functionality.
The Center for Digital Education is a premier resource on K-12 and higher education technologies. From its market intelligence programs, advisory services and research, to its annual events, custom publishing and publications, the Center provides opportunities for private- and public-sector leaders to succeed in 21st century education.
Total entries for the Best of the Web contest were 100 for the education awards, and 250 for government awards, for a grand total of 350 applicants.
Judges measured website appearance, navigability, help features, and functionality. "Carroll Community College's website stood out in the help and functionality areas, due to help offered on every page. The website has a nice online library, and students are able to pay for tuition online," said Meg Mason, operations manager at the Center for Digital Education.
Carroll Community College is located at 1601 Washington Rd. in Westminster, Md.
