Carroll Community College Amphitheater to Come Alive with Shakespeare

Westminster, Md., Carroll Community College will present an encore performance of Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream on July 8, 9, and 10, 2010 at 8 p.m. in the outdoor college amphitheatre at 1601 Washington Rd.

This will be the college's first play in the amphitheatre. " It has been the hope since the amphitheatre was built that we would present a variety of performing arts happenings," said Bill Gillett, program coordinator for Theatre.  "Shakespeare lends itself to open-air performances, exemplified by the variety of "Shakespeare in the Park"  performances you will find all across the nation.  We hope that people will come early to hang out on the lawn, bring a picnic, and enjoy the evening.  We hope to have some pre-show live music, too."

"Carroll Community College has a very creative Theatre Department. It is wonderful to see the Amphitheatre used as an additional venue for great entertainment that enriches the community," said Vice President for Academic and Student Affairs Dr. James Ball.

The show is free of charge for all audiences.  Seats are all lawn seating, so audience members should feel free to bring blankets and chairs. For more information, please call 410-386-8575, or  e-mail
