Carroll Community College Observes Conflict Resolution Day October 21, 2010

Westminster, MD, The Carroll County Community Mediation Center (CCCMC) will be celebrating Conflict Resolution Day by participating in the Unity Fair at Carroll Community College (Carroll) on Thursday, Oct. 21, 2010 from 10:30 a.m. 12:30 p.m. in the Great Hall. The CCCMC operates under the auspices of Carroll Community College.

Carroll County agencies such as the Circuit Court, District Court, State's Attorney's office and Community Conferencing will be on hand to provide information on the many alternative dispute processes being utilized throughout the County.

Immediately following the Unity Fair, the CCCMC will be putting on a mock mediation so community members of the college and Carroll County can see firsthand what mediation looks like.  There will be time after the mediation for comments and questions.

Please join us on October 21st to celebrate peaceful conflict resolution in Carroll County.

International Conflict Resolution Day is celebrated annually on the third Thursday of October.  Conflict Resolution Day was conceived in 2005 to:

  • Promote awareness of mediation, arbitration, conciliation and other creative, peaceful means of resolving conflict;
  • Promote the use of conflict resolution in schools, families, businesses, communities, governments and the legal system;
  • Recognize the significant contributions of (peaceful) conflict resolvers; and
  • Obtain national synergy by having celebrations happen across the country and around the world on the same day.
