Carroll Community College Sponsors Earth Day Festival
Westminster, Md.--On Monday, April 25, 2011, Carroll Community College will hold its Earth Day Festival from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. in the Great Hall and throughout campus. The Earth Day Festival is sponsored by How Things Work Academic Community. Faculty coordinators are Maria Burness and Bill Warburton. (April 22 is when the community celebrates Earth Day, but the college is closed for spring break on that day.)
The purpose of the third annual college celebration is to understand, appreciate, and promote our environment and its natural resources from a global view. Highlights include:
CONTRIBUTIONS OF OUR STUDENTS IN THE AREAS OF SCIENCE, TECHNOLOGY, ENGINEERING AND MATH
• Students Poster Displays in Great Hall 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.
• Fun and engaging hands- on activities 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.
• Free chemical analyses of tap drinking water: bring a bottle of your tap water, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.

CLOSING FEATURE DOCUMENTARY
7 p.m. to 8:45 p.m. Winged Migration: Room K-100: A four-year filming of a documentary on migration of birds on all seven continents. The documentary was nominated for an Academy Award for the Best Documentary Feature category.
