Carmen, the French tragic opera composed by Georges Bizet, is a story of love, jealousy and murder fueled by the clash of cultures. The opera follows the passionate romance between Carmen and the inexperienced soldier Don José. Their relationship causes him to commit mutiny, reject his arranged marriage, and join a band of smugglers. His jealousy when Carmen turns from him, to the bull-fighter Escamillo, leads to murder.
