A Message from President Faye Pappalardo (PDF)

Carroll has long recognized the importance of emergency preparedness and is committed to protecting the safety, health and wellbeing of our campus community.

In June 2009, the World Health Organization and the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention announced a pandemic - a global outbreak - of a new influenza virus. This virus, also referred to as "swine flu" or H1N1, emerged in April 2009 and has since spread worldwide.

Carroll’s administration continues to monitor this situation very closely and is maintaining its contact with the local Health Department and state and federal officials. The college will act with both diligence and speed to address the needs of the college community and is committed to providing you with clear, timely and relevant information.

Public health agencies are your best source for the most up-to-date facts and advice about:

  • How best to protect yourself from H1N1 (swine) flu
  • What symptoms to look for
  • What to do if you think you may have the flu

These resources are available to help you better understand this virus, make informed decisions and keep yourself healthy during the upcoming flu season.
