Course Description

CGR-257, Advanced Web Page Design, will focus on creating a web based cross platform identity for clients. Emphasis is given to the unification of multimedia brand strategies through the use of the internet and dynamic interactive tools such as Adobe Flash. In addition to creating a multimedia identity, students will learn to apply this to create an interactive experience for their clients. Prerequisite: exemption/completion of READ-091 and CGR-157 or permission of the program advisor. Completion of CGR-115 and CGR-110 is strongly recommended. Three hours lecture each week. Three credits. Three billable hours. 

Course Objectives and Grading Information

COURSE OBJECTIVES:  In general, this course will include projects, assignments, group work, critiques or other activities as deemed appropriate by the instructor. These will be focused upon the following course objectives and used to assess each student?s successful learning. A performance level of at least 70% is considered the minimum competency level for each of the required course activities. At the end of this course, students will be able to: 

1. Create web based platforms for promotion of a company. (LG 2) 

2. Understand the impact that the internet has on branding and interactive design. (LG 5) 

3. Use advanced web design techniques to create sites using software such as Adobe Dreamweaver. (LG 1) 

4. Use Adobe Flash as a tool to create an interactive brand experience. (LG 1) 

5. Stream audio and video on the web. (LG 1) 

6. Critique and asses web based artifacts created by others. (LG 4) 

7. Apply design theory to graphic productions for the internet. (LG 2) 

8. Create aesthetically appropriate artifacts for their design portfolio. (LG 3)
