Course Description
OFFC-220, Machine Transcription, is a self-directed online course that trains students to use proper transcription techniques required to produce first-time mailable documents from recorded media using Microsoft Word. This self-paced course also stresses grammar, punctuation, and spelling. Prerequisite: exemption/completion of READ-091 and OFFC-102. Self-paced. 3 credits. 3 billable hours.
Course Objectives and Grading Information
COURSE OBJECTIVES: Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
1. Operate transcription equipment and use basic machine transcription techniques for document processing. (General Education Goal #4, Program Goal #2)
2. Transcribe and format a variety of business documents, proofread and edit in accordance with mailability standards. (General Education Goal #4)
3. Demonstrate the ability to apply correct punctuation and grammar, identify correct spelling of words, and apply proofreading skills in recognizing and correcting errors. (General Education Goal #4, Program Goal #3)
