Construction Apprenticeship Preparation
Prepare for an apprenticeship or other entry-level positions in construction and related fields. Carroll, in partnership with the Community Colleges of Baltimore County, is offering an apprenticeship preparation program under a U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) grant that will cover 100 percent of the cost for both core and specialty training.
Required Core Courses (You must complete all 6 courses.)
- CAP-001Construction Safety
- CAP-002 OSHA 10-Hour Construction Safety
- CAP-003 First Aid, CPR and AED
- CAP-004 Core Construction Skills
- CAP-005 Construction Math
- CAP-006 Blueprint Reading
Total number of hours: 150 hours (Classes meet Monday - Thursday 8 a.m. - 3 p.m.)
Licensure/certification earned: CPR certification card, OSHA 10-Hour Safety card, National Center for Construction Education and Research certificate, AFL-CIO curriculum completion card and Construction Apprenticeship Preparation Continuing Education Certificate.
Total approximate cost: No cost. (The 100 percent DOL tuition subsidy is for a limited time only.)
Prerequisites: You must be at least 18 years old and possess a high school diploma or GED.
Requirements: You must attend a mandatory orientation and pass a math assessment. Math assessments are held every Friday at 1 p.m. at CCBC Randallstown, 3637 Offutt Road, Randallstown, MD 21133. For more information, call 410-386-8100.
Information unique to the training: Placement assistance available. Employers may require drug testing.
Related courses: After completing the core construction classes you are eligible to register for specialty classes in Carpentry, Electrical or Plumbing. You can earn a Continuing Education Certificate in the specialty of your choice by taking the required classes. (Prices with DOL subsidy for limited time only.)

Estimated hourly pay*: $12-$14/hr.
