Julie Waddell will have fond memories of Carroll's 2008 commencement ceremony. She was selected as the student speaker and received the President's Academic Excellence Award.
Waddell was selected as the commencement student speaker because of her 4.0 grade point average, overall academic achievements, high level of involvement at Carroll, and commitment to service.
Her speech encouraged graduates to be proud of their accomplishments and take advantage of their opportunities.
The secondary education major was selected by the college President, Dr. Faye Pappalardo, for the President's Award for Academic Excellence. The award honors one student whose college record exemplifies the essence of higher education.
Waddell's participated in the Belize Service Learning Project, Phi Theta Kappa, Psi Beta, Green Team student organization, and Spanish Club. She has also served as student orientation leader and successfully completed the Leadership Challenge program.
Waddell plans to pursue English for Speakers of Other Languages certification within Secondary Education.
