Help for Students At Risk
Students At Risk (Experiencing Academic Difficulty)
If a student is experiencing difficulty in one or more classes, the student is urged to contact the instructor(s) immediately to discuss the situation. The student should also meet with a counselor or advisor to discuss academic difficulties (including academic probation) that are occurring.
If the student is already on academic probation due to not meeting the required academic standards, he/she needs to be especially aware of the impact that any anticipated grades for the semester will have on the cumulative grade point average. Students on academic probation for any three fall or spring terms, will be automatically suspended from the College for one calendar year.
Early Alert Form
An early alert form is used by a faculty member to notify a student that he/she is having difficulty in a particular class. The form is completed by the faculty member and a copy is forwarded to the student. Through the form, the student is directed to seek various referrals and/or to contact the instructor. The early alert form is used also by counselors and advisors to initiate additional follow-up activities with students.
