Each grade at Carroll Community College is assigned a certain number of quality points:
| A = 4.0 | C = 2.0 |
| B+ = 3.5 | D+ = 1.5 |
| B = 3.0 | D = 1.0 |
| C+ = 2.5 | F = 0.0 |
Calculate your GPA by dividing the total number of quality points earned by the number of credits attempted. Note that transitional courses (such as ENG 096, MAT 097, or READ 091) do not have credits attached and therefore do not affect your GPA.
| Course | Attempted Credits |
Grade | Quality Points |
| ECON 101 | 3 | B | 9 (3 x 3=9) |
| ENG 096 | 0 | A | 0 (0 x 4=0) |
| MATH 115 | 4 | C+ | 10 (4 x 2.5=10) |
| HLTH 101 | 3 | F | 0 (3 x 0=0) |
| Total | 10 | 19 |
So, in this example:
Important: If you repeat a course, count only the attempt with the highest grade. Repeating a course and obtaining a higher grade is the most efficient way of raising your GPA.
