Career Workshops
Career Development is a lifetime journey. Most people change career paths three or four times during their lives. Our career workshops help you make important decisions.
If you are uncertain about how to begin making a career decision, writing a resume, and organizing for a job search, attend any of our workshops and schedule a follow-up appointment with the career counselor to discuss your specific needs.
Career workshops are held throughout each semester. Space is limited to the first 25 people and registration is required. You will receive a room assignment at the time of registration. To register, call Student Life at 410-386-8500. Check back for dates for fall and spring.
Topics include career exploration using DISCOVER, resumes, interviewing and networking/job search.
- Career Decision Making: Learn how your interests, abilities and values connect to career choices. As part of this workshop, you will use the DISCOVER program to investigate the possibilities open to you. You must pick up your DISCOVER log-in in Room 118 and complete the interest, abilities and values inventory prior to the workshop.
- Resume Writing: Get ready for the Job Fair or for that future interview by writing a resume that reflects your talents and skills. If you have a resume to update, bring it with you!
- Interviewing: You have a great resume and now you have an interview! What's next? Learn how to answer those tough questions and how to sell your skills to an interviewer. Practice your responses and get some feedback, using videotaping.
- Networking: Where do you look for a job? Learn how making connections will help you in your job search and how to organize your efforts to make the best use of your time.
