Identifying Disabilities
Student Notification of Disability to Office of Student Support Services
Information about a student's disability is not obtained through the regular admissions process. It is the student's responsibility to self-identify him/herself to the Office of Student Support Services . Call 410-386-8329 (TDD 410-876-2419) or stop by Room L289F.
The process for obtaining reasonable accommodations has 3 steps:
- Provide the Office with a current copy of documentation before making an appointment (include a note identifying who you are)
- Call and make an appointment
- Come in to complete a face-to-face interview and to discuss possible accommodations
Once notified, the Office will consider appropriate supports. Each student's need is considered individually. Students should communicate their needs at least three weeks prior to the start of the semester to allow the staff enough time to review the documentation and to make the necessary arrangements. Specific needs, such as an interpreter for the hearing-impaired, may not be met in a timely manner if the request is not made at least three weeks prior to the start of classes.
