Financial Aid - Veterans Information

Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Education Benefits

Eligible students may receive monthly education benefits from the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA)  for Carroll courses. The benefit amount depends on the number of credits taken and the VA chapter for which the student is eligible.

Benefit checks are sent directly to the veteran from the VA. The student, and not the VA, is held responsible for payment of all college-related expenses.

If the veteran is registered for courses, his/her enrollment certification can be submitted online to the VA Processing Center by the Financial Aid office as early as 120 days prior to the term start date. VA processing time for new students may take 10 to 12 weeks for the initial claim. Therefore, the veteran should be prepared to pay his/her tuition and fees at the beginning of each term.

VA education benefit eligible students may also apply for financial assistance from the various federal, state and institutional financial aid programs referred to in other areas of this site. Contact the Financial Aid Office at 410-386-8437 for more information about how to use VA education benefits at Carroll.
