Internships - Planning Process
- Research internships at internships.com, idealist.org and careerbuilder.com. Also, consider brainstorming ideas with faculty or contact the Coordinator of Service-Learning and Internships.
- Choose an internship that corresponds to your program of study, interests or career goals.
- Plan a meeting/interview with the Coordinator of Service-Learning and Internships. Bring your resume.
- Consider who you would like to be your faculty sponsor and provide this information to the Coordinator of Service-Learning and Internships.
- Your faculty sponsor request is submitted to his/her department chair for approval.
- Upon approval, you are assigned a faculty sponsor. For summer internships, be sure to get a faculty sponsor prior to the end of the Spring Term.
- Meet your faculty sponsor to create the Internship Course Agreement (ICA), which contains the course outline and learning goals.
- The faculty sponsor submits the ICA to his/her department chair or dean for approval.
- After approval, the ICA is returned to you.
- Provide the signed and completed ICA to the Coordinator of Service-Learning for final signature.
- After the Coordinator of Service-Learning has reviewed the documents and signatures, take the ICA to the Registrar’s Office and follow registration and payment processes and deadlines.
