Description:

The position of Theatre Technician is available in the Academic Affairs Division. This position is on a full-time, 12-month basis working under the Theatre Facilities Coordinator. 

FUNCTION:  Responsible for supporting all Applied Arts and Theatre Arts events.  Programming sound, lighting, video and other technical systems in advance of performances and productions. Troubleshooting and resolving problems with production equipment, overseeing events and ensuring their success. Reading, interpreting and implementing scenic construction plans. Leading hourly event technicians and students in successful events and scenic construction. Specific responsibilities include: experience with theatrical lighting, audio, video, set construction and backstage operation and tear down; communicating effectively with college and community users of the facilities to coordinate all technical support, supervising necessary crew and overseeing successful execution of events and productions; assuring that proper safety measures are followed by all users including but not limited to regulations implemented by the college and regulations under OSHA and NFPA electrical and life safety codes; leading part time technical theatre support and students in backstage operations; assisting with lighting, audio, video and set construction for all Applied Arts events; acting as technical support for theater events; evaluating equipment needs and notifying supervisor of need to repair or replace equipment; assisting Theatre Facilities Coordinator with proper security, storage and maintenance of all theatrical equipment; maintaining a positive relationship with all clients, staff and personnel through effective communication; supporting front of house operations for Applied Arts and Theatre Arts and performing other duties as assigned. 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:  Associate degree and two years of full-time work experience in theatre- related operations or production. Creativity and ability to work flexible hours, including evening and weekends is also required. Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds. Customer service experience preferred. 

SALARY:  Grade 6 on the 12-Month Support Staff Salary Scale. Minimum to midpoint starting salary range $30,190 - $40,680 with actual starting salary based on credentials. Includes excellent fringe benefit package.
