Mission Statement

In accordance with the mission statement of Carroll Community College, the mission of the Nursing Department is to serve the community by educating future nursing professionals in the core values of: caring, diversity, ethics, excellence, holism, integrity, and patient-centered care. In carrying out this mission, faculty members continually strive to exemplify these values to gain the support of the community and to prepare successful nurses.

Program Goals

Upon completion of the Practical Nursing Certificate Program, the student will:

  1. Contribute to the nursing process as part of the healthcare team
  2. Assimilate into the profession of practical nursing
  3. Provide patient-centered care

Program Director: Dr. Nancy Perry Phone: 410-386-8231 Email: The Carroll Community College Practical Nursing program has been approved by the Maryland Board of Nursing. After completing pre-clinical requirements, students will complete fall, spring and summer terms. A minimum grade of C is required in all courses in the nursing program; science courses must be completed within 5 years of entering the clinical courses. This program admits students selectively; see page 16 for admissions procedures and requirements. Minimum GPA is 2.500. The following plan of study prepares the student for the national licensure examination for practical nursing (NCLEX-PN). * Within 5 years of the first clinical course = Within 5 years of BIOL-210 and BIOL-215 # Must have a minimum grade of C in all courses.
