Students receive specialized training in the areas of diagnosis, treatment, management and preventative care for patients with cardiopulmonary disorders. Respiratory Care students participate in various classroom, laboratory and clinical experiences. The laboratory experience provides the opportunity for hands-on experience in preparation for clinical practice in diverse clinical settings. A minimum grade of C must be earned in all courses. Upon completion of the program, the student will be eligible to sit for the National Registry Examination administered by the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC). The Frederick Community College Respiratory Care Program is accredited by the Committee on Accreditation for Respiratory Care in cooperation with the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs and the Council on Higher Education Accreditation. A grade of C or better is required in all courses.
