COL-100, College Success
COL-100,College Success, focuses on student attitudes and behaviors which lead to effective learning and college success. Students clarify values and set academic and personal goals. Students develop critical thinking, time management, financial literacy, communication, organizational skills, and study skills including test-taking. Prerequisite: Score of 36 or higher on the Accuplacer Reading Placement Test. One hour lecture each week. One credit. One billable hour.
Course Objectives and Grading Information
Upon completion of this course, students will be able to:
A. List and describe specific methods to:
- Improve memory, Plan written reports and projects, Maintain a
healthier, more balanced student lifestyle, Improve communication
and problem solving skills, Practice creative and critical
B. Identify and explain Myers-Briggs type and /or learning
styles, as well as understand ways to enhance academic
performance and career plans based on these instruments.
C. Identify resources (people and information) on and off campus
to assist them in meeting their needs as students at Carroll
Community College, including the Transfer and Advising Center and
the Career Development Center.
D. Locate and use a variety of library services and resource
E. Develop financial literacy skills.
F. Develop strategies to practice leadership skills within small
and large groups.
