Carroll Community College Holds IT Career Fair

On Thursday, September 22, 2016, Carroll Community College’s (Carroll) Career Development Center, in coordination with the Cybersecurity and Computer Information Systems (CIS) programs, is hosting an IT Career Fair. The event will focus on job opportunities and career options in the fields of information technology and cybersecurity.

College students and the community are invited to attend either (or both) the morning session from 9:30 am to 11:30 am or the late afternoon session from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. The event will be held in the Great Hall of the Washington Road campus.

Marlene Titus, the college’s Cyber Technology Navigator, cites a wealth of potential jobs and internships in the Baltimore-Washington area.  “Our students who come through the college’s ‘hands-on’ cybersecurity program are well-prepared with the skills necessary for entry-level positions in the industry,” she explained. “This event provides students with the ability to speak to potential employers about future positions and internships in the comfortable atmosphere of the college campus before they take on the sometimes daunting application process,” Titus said.

Bill Warburton, who coordinates the CIS program, said “the IT Career Fair provides students with the opportunity to learn about a wide variety of careers and internships in the IT sector, including computer programming and support, web design and mobile app development.”

“By attending a career fair, students have a chance to network for future internships and jobs.  They also learn about company specific requirements and standards,” said Director of Career Development Barbara Gregory.

Representatives from the following organizations will be present at the Fair:

    • Layer 8
      Systems Alliance
Community Media Center of Carroll County
