JOB SUMMARY

Responsible for identifying prospects, cultivating, soliciting and stewarding corporate donors. This position reports to the Director of Major Giving and Donor Relations.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:      

  • Identifies, cultivates, solicits and stewards group of corporate donors with emphasis on event sponsorship and giving.  Looks for opportunities to move to higher levels of commitment with guidance from supervisor.  Works as directed to coordinate donor activity.
  • Perform professional research of donors and prospects.  Integrate customized, proprietary and confidential information into donor proposals and interactions.  Applies best practices and stays informed of professional standards.
  • Coordinates a defined program of donor appreciation and ongoing stewardship in concert with the Director of Major Giving and Donor Relations. Articulates college mission and vision to all stakeholders, ensuring accuracy of information.
  • Delivers professional presentations to donors and communicates verbal and written communications at the highest level.
  • Supports major gifts campaigns and events in fundraising activities as needed.
  • Develops professional donor background reports used by the college President, Executive Director, Director of Major Giving, Board members and volunteers to offer critical insight into the development of effective fundraising requests.
  • Attends Board meetings.  Attends professional development activities.  Participates on college committees as requested.
  • Performs other duties as assigned

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS TO PERFORM WORK:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and three years’ progressively responsible experience in a nonprofit environment managing an array of fundraising activities.  Additional experience can be used to offset education requirement.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and adhere to the development office conflict of interest and confidentiality policy.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse constituents including faculty, staff, students, Foundation board of directors, and donors.
  • Demonstrated organization skills. Ability to coordinate projects/activities. Ability to manage multiple competing priorities and implement work schedule effectively. Ability to work well under pressure and to meet deadlines
  • Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Supervisory skills preferred
  • Ability to coordinate projects/activities including managing volunteers.
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Knowledge of Raiser’s Edge Donor Relationship Software preferred but not required.
  • Must be positive, cooperative and supportive.

   

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The work is normally sedentary work which requires exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Additionally, the following physical abilities are required:

  • Hearing, speaking, visual acuity           
  • Mental Acuity
  • Repetitive Motion        
  • Standing and walking   

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT:     

Work environment involves everyday risks or discomforts which require normal safety precautions typical of such places as office, meeting, and training rooms; use of safe workplace practices with office equipment; computers for data entry and word processing; avoidance of trips and falls; observance of fire and building safety regulations; and observance of traffic signals when driving. Occasional travel to meetings, events and trainings.  May need to work occasional weekends and/or evenings.

 

SALARY:

 

This position will be placed on the 12 month Grade 9 college salary scale. Actual salary placement based on qualifications and experience. Position includes an excellent fringe benefit package. In order to qualify for employment, candidates must successfully complete a criminal background check.
