This job will be primarily evenings and Saturdays, but hours subject to change.

 

JOB SUMMARY

This position provides technical support for the technologies used in classrooms, labs, offices, and conference facilities in the college to include configurations, setups, installations, repairs, and training.  This position reports to the Senior Manager, Enterprise Service Desk.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:      

  • Troubleshoot and repair computer, laptops, tablets, printers, and other technologies
  • Assist and advise faculty, staff and students in technical questions and problems over the phone, virtually, or in person
  • Provide customer support and technical assistance for various college events which may include working with outside organizations utilizing college facilities
  • Install, setup, and configure computers, laptops, tablets and other technologies in labs, classrooms and offices throughout the college
  • Work with, assist, and mentor department student aides throughout the year
  • Print posters, banners, and CD/DVD duplications and 3-d prints as requested
  • Provide physical preventative maintenance in network closets throughout the college
  • Assist full time team in repairs, technology setups, hardware and software installations and configurations in labs, classrooms, and offices
  • Use computers for data entry, word processing and/or accounting purposes
  • Repair, develop, or install computer hardware or network systems
  • Help maintain IT recycle area in the tunnel, including wrapping and shipping out pallets.
  • Performs other duties as assigned
 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS TO PERFORM WORK:

  • One year of related experience
  • HS Diploma
  • Associates Degree preferred
  • A+ or Network Plus certification preferred
  • Understanding and ability to use hand tools to repair technologies including replacing hard drives, video cards, and other computer/printer components
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Must be positive, cooperative, and supportive
 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The work normally requires exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force to move, lift carry, push or pull objects.  Additionally, the following physical abilities are required:

  • Hear/talk/communicate – Must be able to exchange information and communicate
  • Visual acuity - Ability to perceive or detect surroundings
  • Mental acuity – Able to focus, concentrate, understand, and convey subject matter
  • Repetitive motion (i.e., keyboarding)
  • Stand/sit/walk - Able to move or traverse from one area to another.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:     

College campus, direct contact with students, staff, faculty and the general public in classrooms, common areas, offices, and campus environments. Work environment involves everyday risks or discomforts which require normal safety precautions typical of such places as office, meeting, and training rooms.  Use of safe workplace practices with office equipment; computers for data entry and word processing; avoidance of trips and falls; observance of fire and building safety regulations; and College policies.  Observance of traffic laws when/if driving a College vehicle. Flexible work hours may vary, not to exceed 29 hours per week. This job will be primarily evenings and Saturdays, but hours subject to change.

SALARY:

This position will be placed on the College Hourly Salary Scale, Grade 6 with a minimum starting salary of $17.23 per hour.
