Enjoy the Riches of India with Courses at Carroll Community College
Carroll Community College is offering three new courses on India. Learn the spiritual philosophies of India, the art of India or about traveling through India. The following courses will be offered:
The Spiritual Philosophies of India
The spiritual traditions of India are often assumed to be Hindu in origin. However, the diversity of thought in India's varied traditions actually stems from a philosophical system of thinking known as "The Eternal Law" or "sanatana dharma." This bedrock philosophy informs much of Indian thought and is the dominant influence in Hinduism as well as its offsprings; Buddhism, Jainism and Sikhism. Some even argue that "The Eternal Law" has had an impact on Judeo-Christian ideals. In this exploration of the richness of Indian thought we'll explore the philosophical systems, look for the commonalities that are shared by most cultures and see how they develop in a unique way in Indian history. The instructor is Diane Finalyson.
