There are many different ways that students can determine placement and where to begin. The first step is to determine what classes you will start with based on what you have already done and the program you will purse at Carroll and for transfer

  • High School Graduates, First Time Students & Returning Students:
    1. Apply Online
      • You will enter your personal email address (gmail, icloud, etc.); CCPS students do not use your school account.
      • Do this at least 24 hours before you plan to register for classes.
      • You will receive an email from the College the next day with instructions for setting up your account.
      • Call Admissions if you need help with account setup at 410-386-8430.
    2. Schedule an Intake Appointment with Advising by calling 410-386-8435:
      • It is important to meet with a dedicated advisor who will welcome you, discuss your program interest/goals and help Determine Class Placement and/or placement testing (if needed).
      • After placement is determined you will schedule a follow up meeting with your dedicated advisor and register for classes.
      • View classes offered for the upcoming semester.
  • Dual Enrollment Students:
    1. Apply Online
      • You will enter your personal email address (gmail, icloud, etc.); CCPS students do not use your school account.
      • Do this at least 24 hours before you plan to register for classes.
      • You will receive an email from the College the next day with instructions for setting up your account.
      • Call Admissions if you need help with account setup at 410-386-8430.
    2. Ask your high school counselor if you are eligible for dual enrollment and if you have room in your schedule:
      • Schedule an appointment to attend a Dual Advising Session with the Admissions Office at Carroll 410-386-8430
      • Your high school counselor will send an approval form and you can register for classes with an admissions counselor
      • Admissions will advise you if placement testing is required.
      • View classes offered for the upcoming semester.
  • Everyone:
    1. No previous college credit and a high school 3.0 unweighted grade point average or higher (valid for 5 years after high school graduation), call the Admissions office to schedule an appointment to meet with a counselor and register for classes. Have your transcripts or test scores (AP, SAT, ACT if applicable) sent to Admissions beforehand or bring them with you to your appointment.
    2. No previous college credit and an unweighted grade point average below 3.0 may place with PARCC, SAT, or ACT scores (valid for 2 years) if you have taken them. Review the scores for placement below and schedule an appointment.          
    3. Everyone can take the placement tests in English or Math to determine the correct classes for you to start with.
