Course Description
Women's Health examines the latest scientific research developments affecting the lives of women in contemporary society. Course content includes a multidisciplinary approach to women's health issues and provides a framework for informed personal decisions. Prerequisite: exemption/completion READ-101. Three hours lecture each week. Three credits. Three billable hours. GENERAL EDUCATION

Course Objectives
Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to:

Demonstrate the ability to use proper terms/concepts as they relate to women’s health topics.

Discuss the history of women’s health research to the present

Discuss the major health issues confronting women today, including cadiovascular health, smoking, nutritional issues, sexually-transmitted diseases, immunity and HIV/AIDS, the effects of stress, and the current therapies available to women.

Discuss gynecologcal issues throughout the lifespan, including contraception, pregnancy and childbirth.
