You’ve learned from life. Now get credit for it.

With the External Diploma Program (EDP) you can earn your high school diploma based on your life skills and not just on book knowledge. The program uses real-life situations to practice problem solving, critical thinking, speaking, writing and computation skills.  

Some examples include:

• reading a map
• writing a letter to a potential employer
• calculating loan interest
• practicing comparison shopping
• performing trade or occupational skills
• demonstrating home management

As a self-paced program, you meet with an advisor weekly to discuss your progress and future assignments. The program takes approximately six to ten months to complete.

Upon successful completion, we recognize your achievement at our Diploma Recognition Ceremony where family and friends celebrate your success and county and college officials offer their congratulations.

To enroll, you must be at least 18, possess a job skill, and pass a pre-screening assessment. The EDP is offered at the Business & Employment Resource Center in Westminster.
