JOB SUMMARY

This position serves as the manager for adult education data collection and reporting. The MIS is responsible for the local Literacy, Adult and Community Education System (LACES) data entry, data analysis and management, and serves as a resource for all program staff. This Maryland Department of Labor grant-funded position is budgeted for 27 hours per week for 49 weeks and reports to the Manager, Adult Education.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Work as a team member with the Program Administrator, the Intake and Assessment Specialist (IAS), and the Instructional Specialist (IS) to meet program goals and performance measures
  • Lead program data analysis for continuous improvement
  • Enter program data into LACES
  • Ensure accurate data is accessible, in a timely manner, to staff and other stakeholders
  • Promote strategies to retain leaners
  • Develop data analysis reports utilizing various graphic/visual display modalities
  • Train program staff and instructors on data entry procedures and data quality
  • Work together with the IAS to develop procedures for collecting, documenting, and reporting data
  • Assist with the development and implementation of the program’s Data Quality Plan
  • Perform other duties as assigned

 

Job Requirements

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS TO PERFORM WORK:

  • Bachelor’s Degree (in lieu of degree, additional work experience is acceptable)
  • Experience in managing and updating database records and experience with MS Office, including excel
  • Ability to train staff and instructors on data quality
  • Strong organizational, time management, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Must be positive, cooperative, and supportive

PREFERED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • LACES experience, including knowledge of LACES policies, procedures, and data elements
  • Knowledge of local program forms

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The work is normally sedentary work which requires exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Periodically, it requires standing for longer periods of time during presentations or fairs. Additionally, the following physical abilities are required:

  • Hear/talk/communicate – Must be able to exchange information and communicate
  • Visual acuity – Ability to perceive or detect surroundings
  • Mental acuity – Able to focus, concentrate, understand, and convey subject matter
  • Repetitive motion (i.e. keyboarding)
  • Stand/sit/walk – Able to move or traverse from one area to another

WORK ENVIRONMENT:     

College campus, direct contact with diverse students, staff, faculty and the general public in classrooms, common and shared areas, office, and campus environments.  Work environment involves everyday risks or discomforts which require normal safety precautions typical of such places as office, meeting, and training rooms.  Use of safe workplace practices with office equipment; computers for data entry and word processing with some highly technical applications and new technology systems; avoidance of trips and falls; observance of workplace and fire and building safety regulations; observance of traffic laws when/if driving a college vehicle; and observance of all College policies.  This is a part time position <29 hours per week.
