JOB SUMMARY

This position works to provide outreach to and recruiting support to Spanish-speaking students and families.  Working both as part of a team and independently, this position is responsible for attending and identifying additional recruiting events in support of the College enrollment goals.  This position requires evening and weekend hours and strong communication skills in both Spanish and English.  It reports to the Assistant Director, Enrollment Development.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Actively engage (via written and spoken means in Spanish) with prospective credit and noncredit students and families in person or remotely to connect them to College resources and guide them through the enrollment process.
  • Assist at recruitment events and other events that relate to the enrollment goals and objectives of the institution (i.e. open houses and registration events, high school fairs, etc.)
  • Regularly communicate with Admissions and Financial Aid staff regarding prospective students; provide follow up with students/families in support of enrollment steps.
  • Interact and engage the Hispanic community to bring forth pertinent information and concerns to the team and help to develop institutional solutions to meet students’ needs.
  • Assist with drafting reports, policies and other procedures
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Job Requirements

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS TO PERFORM WORK:

  • Associate degree and one year of related experience
  • Strong communication skills – bilingual (Spanish English)
  • Experience and familiarity with the US school system
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-department team
  • Ability to effectively communicate with potential students and their families
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite (including MS Teams and presentation software)
  • Able to work evening and weekend hours as required
  • Must be positive, cooperative and supportive

Preferences:

  • Experience and familiarity with the Maryland school system
  • Bachelor’s Degree

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The work is normally light work which requires exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Periodically, it requires standing for longer periods of time during presentations or fairs. Additionally, the following physical abilities are required:

  • Hear/talk/communicate – Must be able to exchange information and communicate
  • Visual Acuity/ability to perceive or detect surroundings
  • Mental acuity – Able to focus, concentrate, understand and convey subject matter
  • Repetitive motion (i.e. keyboarding)
  • Stand/sit/walk/able to move or traverse from one area to another

WORK ENVIRONMENT:     

College campus and partner locations (i.e. local high schools etc.), direct contact with students, staff, faculty and the general public in classrooms, common areas, offices, and campus environments.  Work environment involves everyday risks or discomforts which require normal safety precautions typical of such places as office, meeting, and training rooms.  Use of safe work place practices with office equipment; computers for data entry and word processing with some highly technical applications and new technology systems; avoidance of trips and falls; observance of fire and building safety regulations and College policies. This is a part time position (<15 hours per week).
