JOB SUMMARY

This grant funded position is responsible for administrative duties, partnership interaction, and data compilation to support the Community Mediation Center.  This position reports to the Director of the Carroll County Community Mediation Center.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Answer phones informing callers about CCCMC services
  • Conduct pre-mediation intake and screening with potential mediation participants by phone or in person
  • Co-mediate cases and assist with the evaluation of parenting plan mediators
  • Schedule and coordinate mediation sessions with participants and site partners and volunteers
  • Data entry and maintenance
  • Maintain partnership with Carroll County Circuit Court
  • Attend Court weekly to provide same day mediation services, present agreements to the Court, conduct pre-mediation intakes and schedule mediations referred/ordered by the Court
  • Maintain calendar of mediations, outreach events and trainings
  • Compile reports and data as required/requested by Grantors and the Court
  • Use small office equipment including copy machines or multi-line telephone systems
  • Use computers for data entry, word processing and/or accounting purposes
  • Work with Volunteer Appreciation Committee to plan and coordinate volunteer appreciation efforts
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Job Requirements

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS TO PERFORM WORK:

  • High school diploma or equivalent and one-year office experience
  • Experience with office equipment (copier/fax/scanner etc.)
  • Computer experience (Microsoft Office)
  • Organized and exhibits attention to detail
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Must be positive, cooperative and supportive
  • Preferred – Trained in the inclusive model of mediation, member of MPME, bi-lingual in Spanish/English

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The work is normally sedentary which requires the ability to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Additionally, the following physical abilities are required:

  • Hear/talk/communicate – Must be able to exchange information and communicate
  • Visual acuity – Ability to perceive or detect surroundings
  • Mental acuity – Able to focus, concentrate, understand, and convey subject matter
  • Repetitive motion (i.e., keyboarding)
  • Stand/sit/walk/able to move or traverse from one area to another

WORK ENVIRONMENT:     

College campus, direct contact with diverse students, staff, faculty and the general public in classrooms, common and shared areas, offices, and campus environments. Work environment involves everyday risks or discomforts which require normal safety precautions typical of such places as office, meeting, and training rooms. Use of safe workplace practices with office equipment; computers for data entry and word processing with some highly technical applications and new technology systems; avoidance of trips and falls; observance of fire and building safety regulations; observance of college vehicle policies and laws when/if driving a college vehicle and observance of all college policies.  Work hours may vary as assigned by the supervisor (not to exceed 25 hours per week).
