Salary

The hourly rate of pay for this student employment position is $15.00 per hour.

Description

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Unload incoming food shipments safely and efficiently
  • Restock shelves and storage areas with food items
  • Inspect products for correct labeling, damage, and quality
  • Check and rotate items based on best-by and expiration dates
  • Creating and organizing folders
  • Follow food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety procedures
  • Assist team members as needed to ensure smooth department operations

Job Requirements

REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Can be Federal Work Study student
    • Must be a currently enrolled student at Carroll Community College.
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
    • Attention to detail and ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently.

PREFERRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

HOURS NEEDED

  • First Wednesday of each month: 8:00 AM – 12 PM
  • Second Wednesday of each month: 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM
  • Mondays: 2:00 PM – 3:00 PM
  • Flexible additional hours available during the week based on your availability
  • Up to 10 hours per month

Physical Demands:

This work includes sedentary, light and medium physical work which may require exerting up to 40 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.  Additionally, the following physical abilities are required:

  • Able to lift up to 40 lbs. on occasion
  • Balancing, crawling, kneeling, stooping
  • Exposure to refrigerated environments may be required depending on the food items handled.
  • Hear/talk/communicate – must be able to exchange information and communicate
  • Visual acuity – ability to perceive or detect surroundings
  • Mental acuity – able to focus, concentrate, understand and convey subject matter
  • Stand/sit/walk – able to move or traverse from one area to another

  • Indicate the department(s) for which you are applying. Only one application is needed
  • Complete the FAFSA for Federal Work Study Positions
  • Be registered for at least six credits with a 2.0 GPA
  • Student Workers under the age of 18 must provide a valid work permit prior to starting employment
  • If eligible, your application will be forwarded to supervisors with open positions
  • The application will be held for one year, July 1 to June 30

What to Expect

  • Interview with the hiring supervisor for the position of interest.
  • If selected, you and your supervisor must complete all federal, state and college forms. This document is obtained from your supervisor or the Human Resources webpage.
  • Complete and submit all federal, state, and college employment forms. The I-9 is submitted to your supervisor and the other forms are submitted to studentemployment@carrollcc.edu
  • Create a work schedule with your supervisor that does not conflict with your class schedule.
  • When all forms are turned in you and your supervisor will be notified so a start date can be established.
