The STEM Scholars Program supports driven students exploring the frontiers of science, technology, engineering, and math. You’ll complete a research project, gain valuable experience, and connect with STEM professionals.

Stem Scholars Program offers:

  • Small cohort model
  • One-on-one advising

  • Professional development seminars
  • STEM transfer preparation
  • Road trips to STEM industries
  • Scholarships

Students with fewer than 45 college credits and a high school diploma

At least 1 year (full-time or part-time)

3 credits of cohort seminars

Application Deadlines

The application will open each year in October. Early decision will be due on January 16, 2026. For a Fall 2026 start, please apply by July 31.

Meet the Coordinators

Jill Krebs Carroll Community College

Jill

Jill M. Krebs co-coordinates the STEM Scholars program in addition to advising STEM, Health Science, and Education programs at Carroll. She has worked in higher education for almost 20 years in both academic and student affairs. She is passionate about creating opportunities and pathways for students underrepresented in STEM fields.

Jane Jones Honor Program Coordinator Carroll Community College

Jane

Jane Jones came to Maryland to work as an electrical engineer at The Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory after earning a Bachelor and Master of Science in Electrical Engineering from Purdue University. She has always enjoyed teaching and all STEM subjects. As a STEM Scholars co-coordinator, she gets to help students explore and realize their STEM goals. In addition to STEM Scholars, she teaches the electrical engineering classes.
