The Pappalardo Honors Program (formerly Hill Scholars) empowers you to think critically, lead boldly, and engage deeply with the world. As part of a close-knit cohort, you’ll take on an academic curriculum that fosters leadership and builds strong faculty and peer relationships.

New high school graduates and Early College Program students
2 years (full-time only)
Participating students will have 12 honors-contracted independent study credits plus cohort seminars.
There is a $250 program fee per semester for the Pappalardo Honors Program that will be covered by the College. This fee covers the cost of events, trips, activities, and more.
$3,000 for new high school graduates. Early College Program students enjoy the benefit of a free degree program, with additional seminar costs covered by the College.

Pappalardo Honors Program Seminar Courses
Honors students will enroll in one seminar course per semester. These seminars are designed to help you be successful as a college student and transform your skills into leadership and service within your community.

The Honors curriculum and professors helped me excel inside the classroom and determine the next steps for my career. Not only this, but the professors and faculty truly cared about me as a person and wanted me to succeed.
Meet the Director

Amanda
Amanda DeRose is an alumni of Carroll Community College as well as the Hill Scholars Program (now Pappalardo Honors Program). After completing her Associates Degree, she transferred to Mount St. Mary’s University, earning a B.A. in English. Following this, she earned her M.A. in Counseling from Messiah University. She has worked at Carroll Community College since 2013, moving from a part-time employee to Assistant Director. Through her personal journey in the program, she is well poised to oversee all Honors at the College, ensuring student success and positive experiences.
