Lynx Learners Permit Mentoring Program Carroll Community College

Guidance for Students Transitioning into College Life

Ready to take the wheel? The Lynx Learner’s Permit Mentorship Program (LLPM) helps you navigate college with confidence and support — all at no cost.

Through one-on-one mentoring, skill-building workshops, and coordinated campus connections, you’ll gain the tools to self-advocate, stay organized, and succeed both in and out of the classroom.

Our mentors are here to guide you from the “passenger seat,” helping you avoid common pitfalls and stay on track toward a successful college experience.

Who the Program Supports

LLPM is designed for students who may benefit from extra guidance, including: 

  • Students with IEPs, 504 Plans, or learning differences
  • Neurodivergent learners (e.g., ADHD, Autism, anxiety)
  • Students managing mental health or chronic health conditions
  • Students seeking support with executive functioning, organization, time management, or self-advocacy

Program Benefits

Individual Mentoring

Weekly one-on-one check-ins with Disability Support Services staff focused on: 

  • Transition planning & goal setting 
  • Academic progress & coaching 
  • Wellness & self-care 
  • Social connection & self-advocacy 

Mini Workshops

A series of interactive sessions on college success topics like time management, setting healthy boundaries, and building confidence.

Campus Connections

Stay in the loop about key dates & events and get connected with helpful campus resources including:

  • Academic Services 
  • Career Development 
  • Student Engagement 
  • Student Care & Integrity 

Coordinated Support

When needed, mentors can collaborate with:

  • Academic advisors, faculty, and tutors
  • Community partners (e.g., CCPS, DORS, CCYSB)

Study Halls

Join scheduled group sessions for collaborative studying, homework completion, and peer support.

Who Is Eligible? 

To participate, students must: 

  • Have completed their initial intake process with the Office of Disability Support Services
  • Be enrolled in at least 6 credits (including at least one on-campus class)
  • Be able to attend required meetings and mini workshops

Cost

The LLPM is free for eligible Carroll Community College credit students working with Disability Support Services.
