The Athletics Game Day Assistant helps ensure a successful game day experience for athletes, staff, and fans. They will provide essential staff support for home intercollegiate athletics contests for multiple sports. Most home games take place between 3 and 7 pm on weeknights with some weekends. This position report to the Senior Director of Student Engagement.

  • Set up fields/locations for game day by moving goals, moving/setting up tables, putting out signage, etc.
  • Clean up fields/locations after games including taking down all equipment and storing it properly.
  • Assist with game day operations such as ball retrieval, statistics and record keeping, scoreboard operations, and timekeeping.
  • Other duties as assigned

  • Some high school completed
  • Knowledge of sports’ rules and specific technical functions of a scoreboard and timeclock
  • Ability to use computers for data entry
  • Ability to use or repair small/light equipment (tables, chairs, tents, scoreboards, etc.)
  • Use or repair medium equipment/machinery such as vehicles or commercial mowers
  • Knowledge of NJCAA/MDJUCO game rules for soccer and lacrosse
  • Must be positive, cooperative, and supportive.


The work normally requires exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Additionally, the following physical abilities are required: 

  • Hear/talk/communicate – Must be able to exchange information and communicate
  • Visual Acuity/ability to perceive or detect surroundings
  • Mental acuity – Able to focus, concentrate, understand, and convey subject matter
  • Repetitive motion (i.e. keyboarding)
  • Stand/sit/walk - Able to move or traverse from one area to another.  The ability to stand for long periods of time and to lift/move equipment

College campus, outdoor/indoor sports’ venues, athletic training facility, travel to sports events/games as required.  Approximately 15-20 hours per week.  Some of the work may involve using mowers or similar equipment. Must follow safety regulations and wear any required safety gear; some of the work environment involves everyday risks or discomforts which require normal safety precautions typical of such places as office, meeting, and training rooms; use of safe work place practices with office equipment; observance of fire and building safety regulations; and College policies.  Observance of traffic laws when/if driving a College vehicle.


This position will be placed on the College Hourly Salary Scale, Grade 1 with a minimum starting salary of $13.50 per hour.
