Microsoft Education for Instructors
Microsoft Education for Instructors integrates Microsoft 365 directly into Canvas (LTI 1.3).
Instructors planning to use any Microsoft tool in their Canvas course sites can enable the Microsoft Education LTI tab in their courses’ navigation.
Instead of multiple, standalone tools, The Microsoft Education LTI houses the following tools in one place:
- Microsoft Sync
- Microsoft OneDrive
- Microsoft Teams
- Microsoft Teams Meetings
If you’re new to it, start in Canvas—add Microsoft Education to your Navigation. For support and step-by-step guides are available in Faculty Resources on Canvas.
Enable Microsoft Education LTI in Canvas
An instructor must enable the Microsoft Education LTI in each course site to incorporate any Microsoft tools into the course. Each course will have its own dashboard and course settings.
Please review the Microsoft Education LTI Walk-through video in the IT Service Center’s Knowledge Base or view the Microsoft Education LTI page in Faculty Resources.
Integrate OneDrive in Canvas
*Please note: Links using the Office365 LTI will no longer allow students to access material. All shared content from OneDrive must be linked from the Microsoft Education LTI.*
Please review the Microsoft Education LTI Walk-through video in the IT Service Center’s Knowledge Base or view the Microsoft Education LTI page in Faculty Resources.
Integrate Teams and Teams Meetings in Canvas
*Please note: Teams will be created by default once an instructor selects the Teams option on the Microsoft Education LTI dashboard. However, a course’s Teams site requires the instructor to activate it before students can interact outside of the Teams meetings.*
Please review the knowledge base article in the IT Service Center or the page in Faculty Resources for information on the set-up and implementation of Microsoft OneDrive in your Canvas course.
