Benjamin Scheper Appointed to Carroll Community College Board of Trustees

Westminster, MD — Carroll Community College proudly announces the appointment of Ben Scheper as the newest member of its Board of Trustees. Scheper, a seasoned business leader and dedicated community advocate, brings a wealth of experience and strategic insight to the College’s governing body.
Scheper is the President and Owner of Apple Plumbing, Heating, & Air, a Westminster-based company founded by his parents in 1994. Since joining the company in 2009, he has led the business through a period of steady growth, expanding from a team of three with two trucks into a thriving enterprise with 40 employees and 18 service trucks. His forward-looking approach to operations, management, and customer service has positioned Apple for long-term success. At the same time, his commitment to community and the company’s family-owned values has remained central to its identity.
“Carroll Community College has played a vital role in shaping the future of our community, and I’m honored to continue supporting its mission in this new capacity,” said Scheper. “I look forward to working alongside fellow trustees to help advance the College’s strategic goals and ensure students have access to the resources they need to succeed.”
In addition to his professional accomplishments, Scheper has demonstrated a deep commitment to community service. Before his appointment, he served on the Carroll Community College Foundation Board since 2016, including a term as President from July 2024 to August 2025. His involvement also included chairing the College’s Starry Night Sponsor Committee and participating in various nonprofit sponsorships and campaigns. Scheper’s leadership extended to Habitat for Humanity of Carroll County, where he previously served as a board member and treasurer. Scheper and his family live in Westminster, where he proudly coaches his kids in youth sports.
“We are thrilled to welcome Ben Scheper to the Board of Trustees,” said Diane Foster, Vice Chair of the Carroll Community College Board. “His entrepreneurial spirit, financial acumen, and longstanding dedication to the College and the Carroll County community make him an invaluable addition to our leadership team.”
Scheper’s appointment was made by the Governor of Maryland and became effective in July 2025.
