Carroll Mascot Intervenes in Unusual Roadside Dispute
Westminster, Md. — Carroll Community College’s beloved mascot, Lightning, demonstrated quick thinking and Lynx spirit earlier this morning by stepping in to de-escalate an unusual roadside altercation between a cow and a chicken near its campus.
The incident occurred along Route 140, where witnesses reported a scrappy disagreement between the two costumed figures. The cow-figure displayed a sign reading “Eat Mor [sic] Chikin [sic],” which presumably riled the chicken-figure.
According to onlookers, tensions escalated as the two animal figures engaged in animated gestures and competing chants. That’s when Lightning, sporting a Carroll Community College Lynx T-shirt and holding a sign announcing “Registration Opens April 21”, stepped in.
“Lightning didn’t hesitate,” said a College staff member who witnessed the scene. “They positioned themself between the brawlers, calmed things down, and redirected the energy into something positive. It was classic Lynx leadership.”
After separating the two, Lightning encouraged both parties to channel their enthusiasm into promoting educational opportunities at Carroll. The chicken and cow ultimately left to get lunch together, while Lightning continued highlighting the College’s upcoming class registration date.
No injuries were reported, though feathers were observed in the air during the tempestuous exchange.
Dr. Rose Mince, President of Carroll Community College, praised the mascot’s actions. “Lightning represents the very best of Carroll: leadership, integrity, and a commitment to community. Whether in the classroom or on the roadside, we’re proud to see those values in action.”
