Empowering Entrepreneurs in Carroll County

Executive Summary

Miller: Resources for Entrepreneurs continues to make a significant impact, successfully facilitating the launch of three new businesses and welcomed 14 new clients from around the county including Westminster, Taneytown, and Eldersburg.

A special congratulations to Tom Mazerski, Director, Miller’s Resources for Entrepreneurs on being nominated for Outstanding Adjunct Faculty at Carroll Community College—a distinction awarded by his students. This recognition highlights his impact on aspiring entrepreneurs through his online Introduction to Entrepreneurship class.

Miller’s Taneytown Entrepreneurship Series, offered in partnership with the Carroll County Public Library, Taneytown Branch and Taneytown Economic Development finished strong with the final class held on May 8. Each class had 20 students with all positive feedback. The only suggestion was to have more time and to increase the sessions to 2 hours each.

The series of five workshops included: Business Essentials; How to Create a Business Plan; It’s All About the Money; Defining Your Products/Services & Market Segments; and Marketing & Sales Basics. Plans are being made with CCPL to expand the program to other towns.

Miller presented its “How to Build a Business/Plan Having Fun with Shark Tank Make Believe” at the Maryland Association of Community College on May 2 at Chesapeake Community College.

Testimonial

Before Miller, I invested a lot of money in coaching programs that over-promised and under-delivered. I struggled to clearly define my services, lacked a structured business plan, and didn’t know how to fully treat my business like a business. I have almost thrown in the towel on several occasions. Tom has helped me stay in the game, work hard, and believe—with tools and systems to do so.
