Maryland Collegiate STEM Conference to be Held at Howard
Community College to Showcase Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics
Md., April 11, 2018—Carroll Community College students will
participate in the Fourth Annual Maryland Collegiate STEM Conference (MCSC) on
Saturday, April 14, 2018 beginning at 7:30 a.m.
The event will be held at Howard Community College’s
Science, Engineering and Technology (SET) building at the campus located at 10901
Little Patuxent Parkway in Columbia, Md., 21044.
MCSC is a collaborative effort of community colleges in
Maryland to shine the spotlight on STEM and related areas. The conference
brings students, faculty and staff of community colleges together for professional
development, to showcase work, to create awareness and to network.
“I am pleased that community colleges from around the state
are joining to offer an event in which high-achieving STEM students can meet,
collaborate and demonstrate their talents and skills,” said College President
Dr. James D. Ball.
“I am impressed with the high caliber of the students who
are participating,” said Vice President of Academic and Student Affairs Dr.
Rosalie Mince. “I am proud of the hard work and dedication which Carroll Community
College students demonstrate every day,” she said.
“A highlight of the event will be poster presentations by
our STEM Scholars, a selective admissions group of students who complete
high-impact, authentic and interdisciplinary undergraduate research as part of
their program. I look forward to experiencing how they share their knowledge
and accomplishments with their community college peers, faculty and staff,”

Attendees may also visit two poster sessions by Carroll
Community College’s STEM Scholars (on two uniquely different projects), which
are scheduled from 12:30 pm – 1:30 pm. Posters are assigned #32 and #34 by the conference.

pm – 2:40 pm: UMBC President Dr. Freeman Hrabowski will
be the keynote speaker.
pm – 4:00 pm: Carroll Community College STEM Scholars will provide
a presentation to community college faculty members about the STEM Scholars
Program (Location: Room SET-203)
