Westminster, Md., November 26, 2019—Carroll Community College (Carroll) will hold its annual Starry Night benefit gala on Friday, December 6 at 5:30 p.m. at the College. The evening will feature an encore performance by Mike DelGuidice & Big Shot performing with the Big Shot Horn Section and include a formal cocktail hour, a silent auction, and a dessert reception.

“We will be celebrating the impact of our ‘Investing in a Brilliant Future Campaign’ launched at this same event one year ago,” said Dr. James D. Ball, President, Carroll Community College. “The Campaign supports the promise of a brilliant future for our students, providing them with the opportunity to pursue their passions and realize their dreams.”

Steve Wantz, Executive Director of Institutional Advancement and the College’s Foundaion stated, “With the goal of raising $8 million to benefit the students of Carroll Community College, the Investing in a Brilliant Future Major Gifts Campaign has already made a significant impact,” including the following highlights:

  • Increased scholarship funds supporting credit, noncredit and licensure programs
  • Startup funding for new programs supporting jobs of the future, including Digital Design & Fabrication, Drone Technology and Entertainment Technology
  • New state-of-the-market equipment and learning tools for various programs, including Cybersecurity, Engineering, Nursing and EMS

“Support for the College and its initiatives will not only benefit our students while they are enrolled at Carroll, but will also strengthen our local economy and improve the quality of life of Carroll County for generations to come,” added Ball.

Back by popular demand from his outstanding performance at the Gala in 2016, the event will feature Mike DelGuidice, who has been touring with Billy Joel throughout the world for the past six years. A vocalist, composer and master of several instruments including bass guitar, guitar, piano and drums, DelGuidice was hired by Billy Joel himself after he heard him perform in October 2013.

The silent auction will offer one of a kind merchandise, including a 3D printed chess set designed by a Carroll Digital Design & Fabrication student, a NFL football signed by Ravens NFL Hall of Fame members Ray Lewis, Jonathan Ogden and Ed Reed, as well as unique experiences such as a local sightseeing flight with light fare and drinks (up to one hour) for up to six passengers through Skytech Travel, a 1 ½ hour flight lesson including 40 minutes of flight time from Dream Flight  School in Westminster, a Woodturning experience for two with local Wood Turner Douglas Heck, and so much more.
