Carroll Community College Offers Courses in Health Care

If you're interested in starting a career today in the health care field, Carroll Community College is the place to start. Courses are available for pharmacy technician training, introduction to dental assisting, or EKG training.
 The following courses are being offered this spring:
Pharmacy Technician Training
You can prepare to become a pharmacy technician and enter the fast-growing field of pharmacy. You'll learn the practice of pharmacy and prepare to take the PTCB National Pharmacy Technician Certification Exam to be ready for a position in a retail, home care, or hospital pharmacy setting. A foundation in math and computer concepts is recommended. GED or high school diploma required for employment and certification exam.
Cost: $790 ($25 for Maryland senior adults)

Introduction to Dental Assisting
You'll have entry level dental assisting job skills when you successfully complete this course, which is approved and co-sponsored by the Maryland State Dental Association. Course includes: terminology, anatomy, charting and medical history, instruments, four-handed dentistry, gypsum, acrylic, amalgam, cements, impression materials, oral hygiene, darkroom procedures, infection control, sterilization and OSHA regulations. Student must be high school graduate or equivalent.

EKG Technician Training I
Prepare for a career as an EKG Technician. Learn basic cardiac anatomy, lead placement, EKG recordings and remedies for faulty EKG tracings.

EKG Technician Training II
Gain advanced skills by learning to administer the treadmill test and the Holter monitor. Prerequisite: EKG Technician Training I: Basic Skills (AHE309). Allied Health Professionals may be exempt from prerequisite based on experience. Call 410-386-8100 for information.
