Carroll Community College’s Cassandra Casey Confirmed for Second Term as Maryland Youth Camp Safety Council Chair
Westminster, MD─ Carroll Community College is pleased to announce that Cassandra Casey has been confirmed by the Maryland State Senate during the 2026 legislative session for a second term on the Advisory Council on Youth Camp Safety. Her appointment, made by Gov. Wes Moore, is effective July 1, 2026, and Casey will continue to serve as Chair of the council.
Casey is the coordinator of Personal Enrichment and Youth Programs in Workforce, Business & Community Education at Carroll Community College. She has overseen the college’s Kids@Carroll and Teen Camp programs since 2015.
“The safety of our campers is our top priority. A safe camp environment allows campers to learn, explore, and grow without worry. We want to foster trust between parents, our staff, and the community,” Casey said.
The Advisory Council on Youth Camp Safety advises and assists the Maryland Department of Health in the development and review of regulations governing youth camps across the state. The council’s work includes making recommendations related to personnel screening procedures, medical services, and safety practices, as well as preparing an annual report addressing issues affecting youth camps and the children they serve.
“Cassandra’s dedication to youth safety shines through in every aspect of her work. Her continued leadership with the council helps strengthen the standards that protect campers across Maryland. We are fortunate to have such a committed and capable leader guiding our summer camp programs at Carroll Community College,” said Kathy Mayan, Senior Director of Personal Enrichment and Community Education at Carroll Community College.
Council members are appointed through the Governor’s Appointments Office and confirmed by the Maryland State Senate. Members serve three-year terms, which may be renewed for a second term.
