Dr. Faye Pappalardo Named 2007
Citizen of the Year
Rotary Club of Westminster Bestows Honor
Carroll Community College President Dr. Faye Pappalardo was honored by the Rotary Club of Westminster as its 2007 Citizen of the Year on Nov. 7, 2007 at Wakefield Valley in Westminster. Dr. Pappalardo has been president of Carroll Community College since 1999.
The award was given for "service above self" and for dedication to improving education in Carroll County. As part of this award, the Rotary Club makes a donation to a charity of the recipient's choice. Dr. Pappalardo chose the Helen Pappalardo Scholarship Fund for nursing students through the college's Foundation.
"This was absolutely a surprise," said Dr. Pappalardo. "It was very humbling to hear the complimentary remarks by the speakers during the award presentation. I felt extremely honored that the Rotary selected me for this award. I am proud of Carroll Community College and all the hard work of our faculty and staff."
The person selected for this award is an outstanding member of the community who has contributed to the local area in some significant way. "We are most appreciative of all of Dr. Pappalardo's efforts on behalf of our community, especially on behalf of local students who get a start through a college education in this burgeoning institution," said Rotarian James Lighter, in his remarks during the award ceremony.
