Hyronomous A. Frog: The Frog Prince to be Performed at Elementary Schools
Carroll Community College ’s Drama Club is sending a children’s theatre production of Hyronomous AFrog: The Frog Prince to Carroll County elementary schools.
“Through the hard work and initiative of this newly-formed college club, Hyronomous will educate and thrill young audiences, teaching lessons of respect, acceptance, and proper behavior, while provoking an abundance of children’s laughter,” said Bill Gillett, theatre director and club advisor at Carroll.
Through funding received through Carroll’s Student Activities, the drama club is giving performances free to participating elementary schools.
“The best part of playing Hyronomous is that he is not just a silly frog,” says Sam Woodworth, the actor who plays Hyronomous the Frog,” He is silly and funny, but he also has feelings, gets sad, wants to fit in, and wants to be liked.”
Drama Club president Kate Kolarik says, “I hope that Hyronomous will help the students begin to enjoy and appreciate live theatre, while learning respect for others in a silly way.”
Hyronomous will travel to Mt. Airy Elementary on Nov. 30, Parr’s Ridge Elementary on Dec. 7, and William Winchester Elementary on Dec. 14. “We hope to continue performing through January,” says Gillett.
Schools that are interested in hosting Hyronomous may contact Gillett at 410-386-8564 or wgillett@carrollcc.edu.
