Carroll Community College Holds Auditions for the Opera Carmen

Westminster, Md., Carroll Community College will hold auditions for the college’s summer opera production of Carmen by Georges Bizet. Auditions will be held April 23 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. in Room T422 (voice studio). Another audition will be held on April 28 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Room T404. Auditions are open to students and to members of the general public.

The opera production will be performed on Aug. 2 and Aug. 4, 2012. It will be sung in French and the dialogue will be in English. The production will be fully-staged and performed with a reduced orchestra.

For the audition, interested performers should prepare a song of two minutes or less in length that showcases vocal quality and range. Music must be provided for the pianist, unless an “a cappella” song will be performed. Those who wish to audition may prepare an operatic aria, but are not required to do so. If interested in a principal role, performers should also bring a resume outlining prior roles and instruction. Carmen and Jose have been cast already. Auditions are also available for chorus members.

Appointments for auditions are required and can be made by calling Theresa Fourcade at 410-386- 8575 or e-mailing
